    Description

    CADDO CASH ca 1900!!
    Choctaw National Bank CD
    Caddo, Indian Territory!!
Before the Oklahoma Land Rush, the land that would become the state of that name was Indian Territory where displaced tribes were forced to settle. Alas, even that land was largely taken away from those tribes, which included the Choctaw and Caddo, both of whose names grace this very rare Certificate of Deposit issued prior to 1907.
The "I.T." following "Caddo" stands for Indian Territory not Internet Technology lol.
Finely engraved in green and black on buff paper, this oversized check format CD is 8.25" long!! It displays a fancy "Certificate of Deposit" at the left, over a pattern similar to the Great Seal of Oklahoma. At the bottom, a dog is seated atop a safe - that was bank security back then!
Very crisp and clean with a trace of wear or toning confined to the margin.
Terrific piece of Western Americana in great condition!  Serial # may vary.
