This sale is for a remote control that was sold by RL Drake as an accessory for its SW-2 receiver.  The remote is in wonderful condition cosmetically and was tested to confirm that all of the control buttons work perfectly.
The Drake SW-2 receiver can be operated just fine without a need for this remote control.  So why did Drake offer this option for the hobbyist customers to use with the receiver?  Well, actually the reason is twofold.
The first reason for this remote is that you can locate the receiver across the room (near an antenna input), but then control the receiver remotedly from a different spot in the room.  Some people may locate the receiver on a shelf for reasons of space limitation and this remote offers a convenient method of tuning and controlling the receiver.
Secondly, there are a number of people who may have physical or mobility limitations that prevent easy access to control the receiver.  This remote can be a lifesaver to such hobbyists who can be enabled to participate with operating the receiver.
If you own a Drake SW-2 receiver, you know that it is a very capable receiver as a stand-alone unit.  However, now that the SW-2 is no longer available for sale "new" from Drake, it is virtually impossible to locate the optional remote control for the receiver.  Indeed, we this is only the second time that we have offered the remote control for sale on Ebay in our 22 years of selling.  We realize that our selling price is not inexpensive, but this is based on our cost to acquire and the relative scarcity of this item.
According to the directions, you can control frequency entry via step up/down or via direct entry.  You can also select the listening mode (AM, AMS, LSB, USB), power the radio on/off, dim the display, or select the VFO or memory function and step through the stored memories.  As you can see, this remote provides a lot of nice control functions for your receiver.
