Governor William S. Beardsley, plus
an old
newspaper
clipping, along with the postmarked
envelope in
which these items were delivered.
William Shane Beardsley
(1901-1954) served as
the
31st Governor of Iowa
,
from 1949 through 1945.
Previously, Beardsley had served about ten years
total in the Iowa House of Representatives and the
Iowa State Senate.
The
envelope in
which these items were delivered
is postmarked October 22, 1954. Beardsley was
killed in an automobile accident exactly thirty days
later, on November 21, 1954.
