    Description

For bid is an original 1939 Louisville, Kentucky catalog booklet of the "CONSIDER H. WILLETT INC. FINE FURNITURE Manufacturers."  This wonderful catalog has embossed brown covers and 56 numbered pages inside showing photographs and catalog numbers for various pieces of home furnishings produced by the company.  The catalog measures a whopping 15 inches tall by 12.5 inches wide.  Southern Belle in dress standing near a dresser on the front cover.  This is a raised image in the cloth cover!  Inside are over 50 pages of advertising for the home furniture pieces produced by the company for 1939!  There are two pages with illustrations of the company's factory buildings in Louisville.  From titled page:  "Consider H. Willett, Inc. Manufacturers of Early American Reproductions in 'Golden Beryl' Sugar Tree Hard Maple / American Wild Cherry / American Black Walnut / 1939" with the addresses of the factories 30th & Kentucky Streets; 31st and Magazine Streets, Louisville.  The company had showrooms at the American Furniture Mart in Chicago, Illinois.  Most of the pages in the magazine show photographs and model numbers for the various wooden furniture pieces, chairs, china cabinets, tables, stools, buffets, mirrors, chests, dressers, vanities, beds, etc.
GREAT piece of furniture production history from Louisville, Kentucky in the American South.  Catalog is complete with all pages intact.  The lower sections of most pages were affected by moisture intrusion that made some pages wrinkled and or brown in areas.  Still complete and it doesn't appear the pages were ever stuck together, so that's good.  No tears or major problems, but the catalog is not "PERFECT."
This is a great reference and a very large format book.
