    Description

    A credit certificate for 25 cents towards purchasing a bottle of Kathatron hair treatment. E. Thomas Lyon was the chemist. The company was Heath, Wynkoop & Co of 63 Liberty Street in New York City.  Lithographed in New York by Snyder, Black & Stern to look like an engraved bank check. Illustrated with three vignette illustrations: in the center an elderly chemist, presumably Lyons, in his study reading a ledger, on the right a native female figure holding a container of what is presumably Kathatron, and on the left a figure holding a bottle of Kathatron and riding in a swan-shaped chariot being pulled by two lions. Unfortunately the top of the certificate has been trimmed off. The remainder measures approximately 3 by 7 inches and is in very good condition. For details, please see the attached photos.
