Description
Fred Weinberg, your key source for exceptional
Major Mint Errors
has the
world's largest
and
most comprehensive
selection of
United States major mint error coins for purchase.
Here is a lot of 131 Checks from the Bullion & Exchange
Bank of Carson City, Nevada.
They are all dated 1895 and 1896.
They are all signed by T. R. Hofer, just after he left the
closed Carson City Mint as its
7th (and last!) Carson City Mint Superintendent. He was in that Carson City Mint position from August
of 1892
till June of 1894, including the Mint’s shutdown for good in 1893.
The 131 checks are in a 13-1/2" x 8" inch tall leatherette book,
and it also includes
approx. 75 check stubs still attached to the leatherette book.
The binding of the book is loose, and has been tapped long long ago
- but the checks are
fine for display or individual sales.
The Bullion and Exchange Bank started in 1882,
out of the Carson City Savings Bank (1875).
These Checks, signed by the prior (just closed) Carson City Mint Superintendent, are not rare,
but the quantity, and form, (original binder)
are a nice find for someone who wants a connection
to the famous Carson City Mint of Nevada.
